Moving With Pets: A Guide

Blog

Moving can be stressful enough for you, but just imagine how your pets must feel. Pets, such as cats and dogs, tend to get very accustomed to a way of living. Therefore, they can become extremely stressed out when they're taken out of their elements, such as during a move. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to make the move go as smoothly as possible for both you and your beloved pets.

Before the Move

In the days and weeks before the move, try to keep life at home as normal and routine as possible for your pets. This means waiting until the last minute to pack up your pet's toys, bed, and other items that the pet has become attached to. For example, if your cat has a favorite blanket that it loves to sleep on, try not to pack it up any earlier than you need to. Furthermore, if you're moving into a rental unit, make sure you verify with the landlord or property manager that your new pets are allowed; you may need to provide proof to your landlord that your pets are up-to-date on vaccinations, so request these from your vet ahead of time as well.

During the Move

On the day of the move, make sure your pets have somewhere safe to reside while your local movers, such as Redondo Van & Storage, move things out of the house and pack them into the truck. The last thing you need on an already-stressful moving day is having to track down a dog or cat that's gotten out of the house. You can either keep your pets in a room with a closed door, leave your pets at a trusted friend's house for the day, or check your pets into a boarding facility until everything is packed up. Some moving companies will even provide pet transport services.

After the Move

Introducing your pets to your new home at just the right time is extremely important. Generally, it's best to wait until the movers are done bringing everything into the home before you bring your pets in. It's also a good idea to set out some of your pet's favorite items, such as a special toy or bed, to help your animals feel at home as soon as possible. Finally, since an entirely new space can be overwhelming for many pets, it's usually best to introduce them to just one room at first, and then gradually let them explore the rest of the house.

Hello, I'm John Kemp. I would like to share my observations about packing, loading and unloading furniture and belongings during the moving process. There are a variety of ways to pack up and load your belongings to keep them safe during transport. Unfortunately, if you perform this task the wrong way, your belongings could end up smashed and tattered. You can either study the best ways to accomplish this task or hire professionals to perform the work for you. My site will explore the packing, loading and unloading process from beginning to end. Please feel free to visit my site often to learn all you can about this subject. Thank you for coming by site.
